January Meeting

Gals,

We're going to start making Valentines a little early this year. We made 46 last year, but we need a whole lot more than that this year. Please start setting aside anything love based, red or pink. I will be bringing a lot of stuff to our January meeting, but I need more than my stuff in order to fulfill the order of 100+ cards. Dig through your stuff and look for doilies, flat lace, ribbon, heart punches, anything you might put on a Valentine card. You will need a basic craft tool kit for this meeting as well. Bring a tape runner, adhesives, scissors, a paper trimmer, punches, markers, stamps, ink and whatever else it will take to make lovely cards. We will be sharing our resources.

I will be taking the ten best cards and we will vote on the best card for February's meeting. The winner will get an extra nice door prize.

  • When: January 11th 7:00PM
  • Where: Barnes & Noble, Midland TX
  • What: Valentines workshop
  • What else: Great door prizes (supplied by Cheryl G this month)
  • More info: cerwelt@gmail.com

I also need a gal to bring a 12" x 12" scrapbook to start archiving some of our past meeting photos. Hey we scrapbook, we should have one. We will need different girls to CROP pages and I will be bringing photos with notes for girls willing to do this fun job. No one will get stuck doing it all, but everyone should be willing to submit something whether supplies or work.

I look forward to playing with all of you at this month's meeting.

A Few Great Gals

Dearies,

I am planning ahead. Ok so I'm just that way and those of you who know me know I've got lots on my monthly agenda. Last year PB & J made Valentine's cards for a nursing home in Midland, TX. This year I would like to repeat the practice with a slight change. This year I know roughly how many residents they have (around 100). Last year I foolishly assumed that 40+ would be enough. The gals made Valentines and gave them to me. I called a couple days before Valentine's day only to learn they had 106 residents. That meant I had to make a load of Valentines in a very short space of time. I won't make the mistake again.

I'm asking way early so that I can have you gals thinking about making these cards way early and maybe when you can't think of something creative to do when you have the bug, you will work on a few cards. Valentine's is all about love and the folks who live in nursing homes have less than their recommended daily dosage. I'm thinking ahead as well and want to set up a couple workshops to make cards in my CROP house. Please email me or message me at Facebook if you would be willing to either make cards on your own or join us in a workshop of sorts where we can do some assembly line creating. I will provide the resources, but if you have love paper, stickers and embellishments you can bring them as well.

Looking forward to lots of you helping.

CROPPED Champion 2010!!!

And the winner is..............(drum roll).....Kristin Paz!!! I had such a great time at this month's meeting. We had great sponsors (take a bow Barnes & Noble, Michael's, Creative Memories, Scrapping the Moments and Stampin' UP!). We had great judges (take a bow Cyndy Edens, Annette Martin and Ann Hayes). We had great contestants (take a bow Ammie Riggs, Melinda Brady, Kim Eddy and Kristin Paz). We had a great audience (take a bow all of you who came). We actually had way more people than Barnes & Nobles had chairs. I'm curious as to where all the chairs went they used to have. I had 60 guests at one of my computer meetings and no one stood?!?

At any rate, we had a great time, great turnout, great competition and best of all no one died. I know that sounds a bit extreme, but we had girls who were petrified at the thought of this event. I stupidly assumed that everyone would have a calm, fun time playing alongside close friends, but we have serious competitors in our midst. One girl (who shall remain Pazfully unnamed) didn't sleep much and actually woke hubby very early because she was so freaked out.

The girls were real troupers in that they took my conception and made it a great event. I came away with a load of wonderful scrapbook pages, great pictures, great memories and eventually a great scrapbook event for the record books.

The judges quietly confided that it was soooo hard to pick girls to CROP. I know I couldn't do it. I'm partial to all four of the girls. That's why I chose judges who weren't too attached to the contestants. We will have new judges next year. I plan to shake up the event by using different criteria next time. Everyone gets a chance to win! PB & J is about fun, learning and sharing.

Kristin Paz was our winner and took home a bunch of fun scrapbook and other prizes. Barnes & Noble donated gift cards, Michael's donated a lovely Christmas wreath. Ann Hayes donated a bunch of Creative Memories goodies, Annette Martin donated a load of scrapbook supplies from her store, "Scrapping the Moments" and I donated scrapbook supplies from my Stampin' UP business. We all worked together to make this an event that the girls would really enjoy. I believe we accomplished our goals.

I'm still cleaning up my office and scrapbook spaces, but it was well worth the efforts. Next year I plan to pull in more help because I have a clue how this event could be better. If you'd like to be a part of the fun please let me know.

A special thanks to Ann Carrillo for bringing tables, helping arrange stuff and just being a great friend. Thanks to hubby, Jeff Welter who photographed the fun for the group. Another thanks to the staff at Barnes & Noble for setting up tables, chairs and Joyce Silverman for advertising for us. We had a huge turnout! Yay!!!

Hope you enjoy the photos. I know I will enjoy scrapping them. I am making a CD with the pictures so if you'd like a copy let me know. I will burn a copy and mail it for the normal $5.00 to cover costs of CD, envelope and postage. Email me at cerwelt@gmail.com.

Only Seven Days Until CROPPED!!!

Gals,

It is just seven days until our fabulous "CROPPED" event happens. You do NOT want to miss this fun competition. What is CROPPED? Well imagine four experienced scrapbookers sitting at their respective seats with all their scrapbook supplies and four mystery packets in front of them. There will be four elements plus a layout that they MUST incorporate into their scrapbook pages. In 20 minutes they will be asked to design a 6"x6" page with an unknown picture and unknown papers, and embellishments. All four gals will have identical items in their mystery packets so the challenge will be to take the provided layout and supplies and make their pages stand out from each other.

We will have three experienced judges from the scrapbook world. Each one will add her "artist's eye" and pick the one scrapbooker who will be "CROPPED" from the competition. The three remaining gals will be moving on to the second round and the process will continue. In round two they will be making 8"x8" pages with new mystery elements and pictures. Again the gals will take the 30 minutes given for round two and create pages that are imaginative, use all the elements and the given layout and make a "stand out" page. The one whose page is the least effective in making her page her own will again be CROPPED.

Finally the last two gals have 30 minutes to make a 12"x12" page and the judges will then eliminate the one gal whose page is the least effective in using the elements provided. The last one standing will be given the title, "CROPPED CHAMPION" and will win some fabulous prizes.

All the gals who worked so hard will come away with ribbons, prizes and a really fun time. The rest of the onlookers will have the fun of being cheerleaders for the gals. We hope you will be a part of the fun and think about competing in our next CROPPED challenge.

Our thanks to Barnes & Noble, Michael's of Midland, Texas, Creative Memories, Scrapping the Moments of Snyder, Texas and our noble judges and brave contestants. For more information you can email me at cerwelt@gmail.com.

When: November 9th, 2010 at 7:00PM (come early for good seating)

And The Winner Is....

I had a wonderful booth for PB & J Paper Crafters at the Permian Basin Fair this year. I had a drawing for a door prize. (A gift bag full of all sorts of goodies.) I know everyone wants to know who won so I'm announcing here that Melody Daniels of Wink, Texas won it.

I now need to mail it to her. Thanks for everyone who came by the booth and supported me. I'm hoping to have some other gals sit for an hour or so and make crafts AND submit goodies in the fair. If you'd like to enter something next year let me know. I'll walk you through the process. I know I loved winning 14 ribbons, but I know that had you gals submitted that number would have been much smaller! So seriously think about a card, a scrapbook or page you'd like to enter. I have minimal experience in this arena and won. I can only imagine what you gals with years of paper crafting experience could do.

Have an awesome weekend. I'm going to a CROP tomorrow and having a workshop at "The Littlest CROP House in West Texas" on Sunday afternoon (Gardendale, TX). If you'd like to know more let me know. You can always reach me at cerwelt@gmail.com. I get my emails on my cell and answer real mail VERY quickly.

Till then.

Meeting Notes

I have been so busy with the Permian Basin Fair that I am just now putting up the meeting highlights from our September meeting. Ammie Riggs was our guest speaker and her presentation was great. She brought a new product for us to enjoy, "Embellish Your Story". Here she is putting one of her favorite scrapbook pages on the metal display board and adding the cute magnet embellishments. I can hardly wait for October so we can see and buy the fall embellishments. I WANT the pumpkin and the little cute magnets. My fridge is black and the ladybugs I bought are adorable on it as well!

We also discussed the upcoming competition, "CROPPED" and had four gals sign us as contestants and one as an alternate. If you missed this meeting you'll really want to come to October's meeting to learn more about this fun new event we're going to make a regular part of our "Must Do" list. If you want to learn more about CROPPED read the previous blog posting.

I shared a technique using the new "Day of Gratitude" rubber stamps from Stampin' Up! and the marker pens. We will be using this new technique at my monthly stamp club meeting in Gardendale. If you haven't signed up holler. We'll also be doing some cute "Trick or Treat" cards with hilarious punched embellishments. Hope you come. You can always email me at cerwelt@gmail.com to learn more about the stamp club.

I'm working on something fun for October's meeting. I like to be a couple month's ahead, but getting ready for the fair really set me behind. I'm also collecting cards and scrapbook pages for our group submission for next year. You can submit any kind of greeting card, paper craft or scrapbook (single pages as well) and I will submit it under the group's name with the individual name of the gal submitting. I want everyone in the group to go home with a ribbon next year! Think about it now and when you make duplicates of something save it for our box and I'll keep them until we can submit next September.

We will be discussing forming an actual club next month so if you're interested in really participating and adding your thoughts PLEASE come. I have been the "little red hen" in previous clubs and know better. I will let this club go if I can't get gals interested in helping. I need you and your gifts. I don't mind starting something, but keeping a dead horse alive isn't my goal. If you love scrapbooking and love sharing your hobby with others then I need you to participate. Good clubs don't survive with one person doing all the work. They get old, dry and boring. Your thoughts, your creativity makes this thing work.

CROPPED!!!

Hey you GALS!!! Tonight is going to be so much fun. We have a great guest speaker (Ammie Riggs) and she's bringing an awesome presentation. She's demoing "Embellish Your Story". This product allows you to actually display your favorite scrapbook pages in a creative and easily changeable way. You pick a magnetic background in one of several colors. Then you choose the magnetic words and embellishments that not only hold your page but dress it up. You can create a triptych (three pages) or even just a two page spread of your favorite pages. You will love this demo and would hate it if you missed it.

NEXT we're planning our November competition "CROPPED". Loosely based on the TV show, "CROPPED" from the Food Network (http://www.foodnetwork.com), this game will be a blast. We will have three gals lined up on a scrapbooking table. Each will be given identical scrapbook supplies (gals need to bring their own photos and tools). They will compete for 30 minutes and make a layout. After time is called their work will be judged. The one with the lowest score will be eliminated. Then we repeat the process. Again the pages will be judged. The winner gets a great prize and the other gals will get ribbons. I know it will be great fun. I need all of you to come and help me determine rules, and plan all the details.

We will also talk about the fair because there are still several days left to come see the Creative Arts submissions (BARN G) at the Permian Basin Fair. I really want to submit cards, scrapbooks and other paper crafts from our gals so we'll talk about next year's theme and how EASY it is to submit and win. It's so nice to have folks see your work (after all most of our scrapbooks are relegated to coffee tables or bins in the attic).

If you have ANY questions you can email me at cerwelt@gmail.com.

When: Sept 14, 7:00PM
Where: Barnes & Noble, Midland TX
What else: door prizes, and don't forget to get something good from the cafe!

Come be part of the fun.

Stampin' Up Convention 2010

I'm back and still whirling in my mind after all the excitement. I've never seen so many scrapbookers, card makers, rubber stamp users, paper crafting women (and a few men) in one place. It was like being at the biggest CROP in history. I heard there were 2700 women (and a few men) in attendance. I also heard that was down from past years, but for my first experience I think it was the perfect number.

We had classes, workshops, games, parties, swaps (I'll share more about that later), food, snacks, and even a chocolate fountain! I didn't attend all the events, but the ones I did participate in were very informative. I'm rather a laid back sort of woman, so a lot of the hoopla was more than I could enjoy, but for girls who love lots of laughter, music, merry making and girl fun it was perfectly wonderful.

When we arrived we were given THE most adorable purse. It was bright pumpkin pie orange with melon mambo, whisper white and blushing bride pink circles. We were also given three sets of rubber stamps. Through out the four day event I collected all sorts of goodies so my suitcase was really heavy on the trip back to Texas.

The girls in attendance brought boxes full of card fronts and scrapbook pages to swap with each other. They had prearranged to have specific swaps covering specific stamps or subject matter. I was blessed enough to be gifted by a couple gals when they found out I was new and hadn't brought any to exchange.

We had many guest speakers, but I had a couple who turned out to be my favorites. I loved the gal (can't think of her name) who showed us a bunch of ways to use punches. She could sure think "outside the box". Another woman shared business ideas and how to meet the needs of our customers in a load of great ways. I bought her book as I was so impressed with her ideas and her ideals.

Hubby and I came together so instead of spending nights with the gals at the convention we shared quiet time alone and I showed him what I had learned.

There were all sorts of "display" walls set up with card ideas, scrapbook pages, and gift ideas. I am still feeling overwhelmed at all the creative juices that were flowing in that building.

Salt Lake City is a beautiful place. The temperature was right around the low 90s and it even rained a couple times keeping the temps down. We saw all sorts of interesting things after the convention. We had a good time and I was glad I went and that I learned so many new things.

Gadgets and More Gadgets

Permian Basin Jewels Paper Crafters is having it's monthly meeting Tuesday July 13th at 7:00PM at Barnes & Noble in Midland, TX.

This month is all about gadgetry to make paper crafting fun. We will learn the good, the bad and the ugly regarding our favorite and not so favorite tools.

Bring a favorite tool of your own to share.

This meeting is open to the public and there is no cost to join us. Door prizes and just a great time for a bunch of craft happy women.

Hands on demonstrations and questions answered. New products and lots of helpful hints for you scrapbooking gals.

Some of the gadgetry demonstrated: punches, score boards, Crop-A-Dile and Big Bite, Circle cutters, Paper Crimpers, and much more. Ideas to use what you already have in a bunch of new ways.

Bring, yourself, paper and pen, your favorite gadget, $5.00 for the monthly CD.

Knock, Knock

I was at our ministry house today and planned to be all creative and get loads done. Instead I made one thing and then cleaned and reorganized my space. I needed inspiration. Here is all I made. It consists of a tablet back, some grunge board elements from Tim Holtz, brads with alphabets, and ink. I first split the tablet back into two pieces. I then inked it with Stampin Up inks. I used three colors of ink. Then I ruled the "doors" every half inch and drew lines. I then proceeded to make faux knots. After using my Crop-a-dile and Big Bite to make holes for my brads.

I had never worked with grunge board before. It is very flexible, but takes inking very well. I used "Early Espresso" from Stampin Up and then some gold ink from another company. (Sorry I can't remember who.) After they dried I applied some adhesive to the back of the hinges and door lock and applied them to the "door". Once I put the brads in place I added binder rings and voila, they were too small. I found one size larger binder rings and used them. Voila again. (I think I need one sized larger!)

I plan to make pages to go inside my door book. I love the look and plan to add more elements such as keys and perhaps a door sign. It was so much fun and I like the look I achieved. What do you think?

So fun.

The Love of Our Art

This past weekend is a blur. I can't believe it came and went so quickly! More amazing is that I survived and also made three new friends (amigas). Welcome Ana, Irma y Paula!

I had no idea when my little sister gave my a tiny little chipboard scrapbook that I'd end up having so many girl friends with a like hobby. OK, so some of you are more than hobbyists, but we'll let that be our secret Vicky! Oops, did I really type that Melinda? Yes Ammie I did. OK, so now three women are staring at me with their hands on their hips.

Every time we get together I learn more about the gals. Our instructor at the CROP, Annette, started a game where we recall funny stories. It was there I learned more about the girls who attended this CROP. It's funny, though we had a full house I miss several of the gals I met at Viv's store in Odessa. I miss Lisa and Tina and Cindy. I pray for them cause I don't see them much. I really pray for Viv and Cindy as they have had some real physical issues in the past year.

The world is a funny place and scrapbooking is a vent for some of us. It is also a place to reflect, to remark, to recall, to illustrate and to create. Hopefully no one will write some stupid "rule book" about scrapbooking. I can promise you I'll break every rule they make. Who says you have to have photos in a scrapbook? Who says you have to use little black photo corners? Who says you can't use a computer? It doesn't matter to the gals I play with, we do things our own way. We do love to share the arts we use in our chosen hobby. I refuse to call it passion, I reserve that for the Lord and Him alone.

I'm so in love with what I do that I do it for money! That is very unusual for me. I'm headed to my office in our other house to work on my passion. I don't just do scrapbooking, I also do paper crafting. I don't know why I love working with paper. It's such a fragile art and so susceptible to decay. I just love finding new paper. My friend Vicky is really good at finding paper. I love her style of art. I would love to just sit and watch her work. I haven't had time to do that yet, but maybe we will find time to share just how she gets the results she works for!

I'm learning the lingo of the scrapbooker. I know a few names now and can even "name drop" them with the more experienced artists. Tim Holtz is into altered art and I relish his finished products. K & Company feeds my artsy fartsy side. Bo Bunny has some awesome paper and cardstock goodies. Cricut is always innovating with electronic die cutting technology. Everyone should own a "Big Shot" or at the very minimum a "Cuttlebug". What would life in the handmade card making industry be without the Martha Stewart Scoring Board (Which can be had for $10 with a 50% off coupon at Michael's). Of course I'm a rep with Stampin' Up! and I love their stamps, inks and papers. I'm presently looking for "grungeboard" so I too can join the ranks of the industrial chic!

I hope you will post a comment and also tell others to follow this blog. I crave input and want to meet all the scrapbook artists, card making gurus, and you closet altered artists come share your gifts. If you'll link to me, I'll link to you! Follow me and I'll follow you on FB and Twitter!

May the force of scrapbooking be with you!

The Party's Over

Gals,

It's official, we had a blast and my feet can testify to the fact that we "CROPped until we dropped". I took about three hours today and cleaned up the mess I made with all my supplies. I took the time to sort all my scrapbook paper and cardstock! My scrap office/workspace is beautiful and gets closer to a dream room every day!

Annette Martin was a delightful instructor and house guest. She and her mom spent the night in the "littlest CROP house in Texas" and the A/C decided to freeze up. Not fun, but they surely didn't complain. Annette even opened the cabinet to allow the A/C to thaw.

We had a total of 14 gals and 1 guy at the BBQ/CROP/Workshop. Chef Jeff was there to cook for us. The gals raved about the burgers and we had so much food I was able to bless a single mom with a lot of the leftovers.

Melinda Brady won the big prize Friday evening and Ann Carrillo won the big prize Saturday. We all had so much fun with all the games that Annette came up with. I'd love it for all the gals to send me totals of how many pages they actually finished (including those we did at the workshops).

Annette brought a small portion of her supplies from her store and we enjoyed filling our "cardstock" supplies. She brought a boat load of cardstock and we got one tremendous deal because of it!

It was a great time and I'm already considering when to have another. I think the food was great, but I'd love to keep things a little more simple next time. What do you gals think about having sandwiches and chips instead? Do post here and let me know when you'd like to do another CROP and what you'd be ok with as far as food goes.

Feedback from those of you who attended would be maaavelous!

We CROPped all evening Friday until almost 1:00AM and then turned around Saturday and did four layouts, two summer and two Fourth of July or patriotic layouts! They came out great and everyone personalized their pages. After we had our yummy gourmet burgers (cooked by Chef Jeff) we continued on our fun with several Big Shot demos and then we made a western themed card and a Luau themed card. I had fun demonstrating them and the gals had fun using the Big Shot to cut out some cute card stock die cuts for future use.

All I can say is "You shoulda been there!" Maybe next time? If you're interested in CROPs and workshops please text me either on Facebook, Twitter or comment here!

Until next time.

Cerise

Door Prizes Galore!

Gals,

Here is a further update for the upcoming PB & J Paper Crafters Summer BBQ and CROP

Friday June 18th CROP from 6:00PM-midnight. Snacks will be supplied as well as a stash of goods from Annette's store for you to peruse when you need a break. Annette asks those of you attending to send a list of the project themes you're working on so she can bring stuff from her stash to help with. (Her email is: scrappingthemoments@gmail.com Annette and I will be there to help you with your projects. We will have stations set up with a Big Shot and, Cuttlebug, Personal Cricut, (please bring your own cutting mats and cartridges I may not have), and heat embossing station. You can purchase them from her.

Saturday June 19th from 10:00AM-noon Annette will be doing a scrapbook workshop. She is bringing the goodies to make 2 two page layouts; a summer themed one (see illustration of one of the summer pages) and a 4th of July themed layout. She will walk you through making these great pages and I know we're going to have a blast. From 1-4PM I will be doing a Big Shot workshop as well as a couple greeting cards. We'll make a Western themed invite card as well
as a birthday card using die cut techniques, inking techniques, and embossing. You will go home with cards you won't want to give away. You will also be able to use the die cuts for future projects so bring some extra smooth cardstock. You can also buy cardstock at the event should you forget. You will need scissors, tape runners, and be ready for fun!

Lunch on Saturday will be gourmet burgers barbequed by my husband (a former meat Chef for Johnny Carson's "Here's Johnny" restaurant). We ask you gals to bring sides. We need items like potato salad and things that go well with sirloin burgers. Drinks, paper goods, burgers, condiments and bibs (just kidding) will be provided. "Hey these are good burgers".

We only have a couple spots left for the Friday CROP and a few spots left for the workshops on Saturday. First come, first served!

Cost: If you are signing up for both the CROP and workshops you pay $50.00 (save $5.00), Friday CROP only is $15.00. Saturday workshops/meal/snacks $40.00.

This event is first come first served, so sign up now to be sure you don't miss out. Annette is bringing a "Bucket of Booty" from her store for the door prize. No one goes home without goodies. I've been collecting stuff as well and will be doing raffles all through the CROP and Workshops.

The CROP is out in quiet and lovely Gardendale, TX. Gardendale is 10 miles north of Odessa and 14 miles west of Midland. It will be well worth your time to come. We are going to have a blast and you'll love the serene atmosphere out here in the country. You can forget the housework, kids, hubby and hassles of everyday life and just be with a bunch of happy gals doing what they love best! This is our first PB & J sponsored CROP and are hoping for a good turnout so we can do these all through the year!

For directions or more information email me here or call me at 432-528-6400.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

My Scrapbooking Group

I am posting this on three blogs at one time, ain't tecnology grand?

Once a month I put together a paper crafting meeting at our local Barnes & Noble store. I come up with guest speakers and demonstrators and we have a great time.

This month "jewel" Vicky Mumme was our presenter/demonstrator. She put together a very informative and interesting presentation. She had just returned from a convention in Dallas where she had seen Tim Holtz share his new products and skills in a workshop format.

For those of you who have not yet heard of Tim Holtz I challenge you to do a Google search of Tim and watch a few videos of his style.

We saw first hand some "altered art" Vicky has been working on, and even made lovely paper roses with simple five petal flower die cuts.

Our group continues to grow and this meeting was standing room only! If you are in the Permian Basin of west Texas, come to Barnes and Noble on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm and join us! The meetings are open to the public and free of charge!

Summer BBQ Crop

Mark your calendars, save your shekels (that's money), get your paper and supplies packed and come to Gardendale. Why? Well PB & J is sponsoring it's first CROP and it's going to be so much fun. We'll have workshops, demonstrations, door prizes, snacks and a BBQ out in the country. Come to the "littlest CROP house in Texas", at least that's what I call it.

We have limited room (9 for the CROP Friday) and (14-16 for the workshops and classes Saturday). Our guest instructor will be Annette Martin of "Scrapping the Moments" in Snyder, TX. She has a cute little scrapbook store there and has THE cutest stuff. I just recently purchased a kit for only $9.00 and made a bunch of pages. Anyway, she will be helping you gals get your pages together at a CROP on Friday (6:00PM-midnight) and then from 10:00AM-noon Saturday we'll have a BIG SHOT demonstration/card workshop and then from 1:00PM-4:00PM Annette will be walking us through 2-2page layouts. One will be a summer set and the other a 4th of July set. Her pages are so cute and she's been scrapping for 17 years.

The cost for the full weekend is $50.00 and that includes all workshops and classes, your gourmet burger on Saturday and snacks Friday. We are asking gals to bring sides for the Saturday BBQ so we can keep costs down.

Annette is bringing a "Bucket of Booty" from her store for door prizes and I've been collecting goodies as well. No one goes home empty handed. For a brochure email me at: cerwelt @gmail.com.

Vicky Mumme Demos Altered Art

Hey gals,

June 8th, 2010 is our monthly meeting time. Vicky Mumme is going to demo altered art paper roses and other techniques at our upcoming meeting. She has recently returned from the big scrapbooking convention in Dallas and I can hardly wait to pick her brain! Of course her guy, Tim Holtz was there so we know which booth she spent the most time at. Duh!

Come and enjoy an hour and half of your favorite thing; talking about scrapbooking and cards.

When: June 8th (that's a Tuesday) 2010 7:00PM
Where: Barnes & Noble, Midland TX
What else: Great door prizes
Bring: Yourself and a friend
Questions: email Cerise at cerwelt@gmail.com

See you there.

Workshop

Once a month I get together with a few of my girlfriends from Odessa and we make cards for our loved ones. This month my daughter and granddaughter were with us. We made a father's day card in the shape of a matchbook and a generic birthday card.

One of the gals played hostess (she gets free stamps) and brought the most yummy dessert.

I enjoyed playing and sharing my friends with my daughter and her little girl. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!

My granddaughter was such a big help. I look forward to when she is old enough to come spend time alone with grandma.

A Good Time

Here we are at Barnes and Noble, and as you can see by the intent look on everyone's expressions we are enjoying ourselves. Annette Martin is sharing from her "experience pool".

Here is another shot, but this time Ammie Riggs is demonstrating a cool resist technique using alcohol inks.

Here Annette is sharing her blog and also some of her many resources on her website. We had two new gals attend. We had our first scrapbooker from France! Welcome Clairance! Or should I say "Bon jour"?

We had a load of door prizes, and Clairance won the door prizes from "Scrapping the Moments" in Snyder, Tx. We are really looking forward to our first CROPs and retreats with Annette. Thanks to both Ammie and Annette for sharing their skills.

May PB & J Meeting

Hey Gals,

Next Tuesday (May 11th) is our next Permian Basin Jewels Paper Crafters meeting. Our main guest speaker will be Ammie Riggs. She will be demonstrating alcohol ink resist techniques. This will be a hands on meeting. Everyone who comes will be DOING after Ammie demonstrates how to use these inks. Come prepared to learn!

Our second speaker will be Annette Martin. She owns "Scrapping the Moments" store in Snyder, TX. Annette would love to do some actual CROPS and scrapbook retreats here in the Permian Basin. She is a gifted young lady with lots of experience and is very excited about teaching us as much as we are willing to learn. She will be bringing examples of her work so that we can all see her adorable products and style of scrapping!

We are so blessed to have such wonderful gifted gals in our midst. Please invite all your gal pals who scrap. The more of us who are participating the less work any one of us has to do AND the better chance we'll get new guest speakers and Justify Fulldraw vendors to help us with bigger and better door prizes. As always we will have door prizes, BUT we are no longer allowed to bring food into the store. We can, however, buy drinks and goodies at the cafe. Let's all support Barnes & Nobles by buying their magazines (I will have them all set out for you to see), books and cafe goodies. They are offering us space to hold our meetings, it is the LEAST we can do to shop there.

If you join their member card program you get at least 10% off everything in the store. You also get coupons in your email box that can give you more savings on highlighted products.

For questions, directions or just to blab you can reach me at cerwelt@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from each one of you.
