A Good Time

Here we are at Barnes and Noble, and as you can see by the intent look on everyone's expressions we are enjoying ourselves. Annette Martin is sharing from her "experience pool".

Here is another shot, but this time Ammie Riggs is demonstrating a cool resist technique using alcohol inks.

Here Annette is sharing her blog and also some of her many resources on her website. We had two new gals attend. We had our first scrapbooker from France! Welcome Clairance! Or should I say "Bon jour"?

We had a load of door prizes, and Clairance won the door prizes from "Scrapping the Moments" in Snyder, Tx. We are really looking forward to our first CROPs and retreats with Annette. Thanks to both Ammie and Annette for sharing their skills.

May PB & J Meeting

Hey Gals,

Next Tuesday (May 11th) is our next Permian Basin Jewels Paper Crafters meeting. Our main guest speaker will be Ammie Riggs. She will be demonstrating alcohol ink resist techniques. This will be a hands on meeting. Everyone who comes will be DOING after Ammie demonstrates how to use these inks. Come prepared to learn!

Our second speaker will be Annette Martin. She owns "Scrapping the Moments" store in Snyder, TX. Annette would love to do some actual CROPS and scrapbook retreats here in the Permian Basin. She is a gifted young lady with lots of experience and is very excited about teaching us as much as we are willing to learn. She will be bringing examples of her work so that we can all see her adorable products and style of scrapping!

We are so blessed to have such wonderful gifted gals in our midst. Please invite all your gal pals who scrap. The more of us who are participating the less work any one of us has to do AND the better chance we'll get new guest speakers and Justify Fulldraw vendors to help us with bigger and better door prizes. As always we will have door prizes, BUT we are no longer allowed to bring food into the store. We can, however, buy drinks and goodies at the cafe. Let's all support Barnes & Nobles by buying their magazines (I will have them all set out for you to see), books and cafe goodies. They are offering us space to hold our meetings, it is the LEAST we can do to shop there.

If you join their member card program you get at least 10% off everything in the store. You also get coupons in your email box that can give you more savings on highlighted products.

For questions, directions or just to blab you can reach me at cerwelt@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from each one of you.

Scrap Til You're Happy

May has been dubbed, "National Scrapbook Month" and with it comes the urge to scrap. Yesterday I had intended to rest all day, but instead I went to my office and worked on cards. I knew I didn't want to get in the middle of a huge project and then have a mess to clean up. I had originally went over to get my phone charger which was plugged into the surge protector next to one of my storage cabinets. I just couldn't resist all those lovely supplies so neatly organized.

Early yesterday I had purchased the April "Complete Cardmaking" (a magazine from the UK). It came with some cute card papers and "decoupages". I had seen that term used before in connection with scrapbooking and card making, but had no idea what it meant. My idea of decoupage is to glue a picture onto wood and then to cover it with some sort of protective medium. As I looked at the freebies that came with the magazine I could quickly see that it meant a picture duplicated several times and then cut out. One then layers pieces of the picture to make it look dimensional. I had fun making four cards and then I decided to use some of the brand new Stampin' UP Specialty papers I just bought in preparation for an upcoming workshop.

I inked the papers and the embossing that comes already put on the paper causes a resist look. I inked with some Rich Razzleberry, Pink Passion and Melon Mambo. These are some of my favorite colors. The hidden pattern on the paper is a lattice background. Once I inked the paper with the three colors it became a neat background for some felt flowers and some glittered leaves. Loverly. I added some buttons, a border with 1/8" ribbon woven through tiny holes that came punched in them. It was a great afternoon. Just a couple hours and my creative juices were filled to the brim. So much fun.

Today I have a workshop. We're making Father's Day cards, Cinco de Mayo cards and then playing with the new specialty papers. I know it will be "muy divertido" (very fun).

I look forward to scrapping all through this month. I have a brand new 6 x 6 Stampin Up album and a new Bigz flower die I love using. I can hardly wait to play.

What are you doing during this month to celebrate "Natl Scrapbooking Month"?
